- Employment rules for international students ? Germany
-
If you own a Student Visa, during your stay in Germany you cannot work full time. However, you can either work up to four hours per day (half day), but not over 180 days per year, or work part-time for 90 days per year.
Most employers are happy to hire students. However, please note that it is not possible to finance your study course with a part time job. Therefore, it is wise to consider your earnings from a part time job as ?bonus?, to be spent on a treat, an outing or small purchases.
You can start looking for a job by reaching out to local student services associations. For further queries about studying and working in Germany, you can contact the Federal Employment Agency?s Central Placement Office (ZAV) helpline at ++49 228 713 1313 between Monday and Friday from 8.00 to 18.00 hours. The helpline team can share relevant information or give you references for further guidance.
Further information about studying and working in Germany can be obtained at the EURES (European Employment Services) portal.
